From Istanbul to Şile: A Peaceful Camping Journey Through the Sea and Forest

Journey to Şile
One of the most beautiful routes where you can reach nature without going too far from Istanbul is Şile.
My aim on this trip was to get away from the city for a while, enjoy the sea air, and have a peaceful camping experience.
I set off from Istanbul in the morning. As I left the city traffic behind, the scenery along the road gradually began to change. Buildings gave way to trees, and busy roads were replaced by quieter routes.
As you get closer to Şile, you begin to feel the atmosphere of the Black Sea. Sea views, forested areas, and small village roads make the journey even more enjoyable.
Searching for a Campsite
There are many different options for camping around Şile. In addition to places where you can stay by the sea, there are also quieter areas within the forest.
I chose a place as far away from the crowds as possible, where I could park my vehicle comfortably and enjoy the sounds of nature.
After arriving at the campsite, the first thing I did was check the surroundings and choose a suitable place for the night. A flat surface, the direction of the wind, and the safety of the area are among the most important things I consider when selecting a campsite.
Evening at the Campsite
As sunset approached, the atmosphere at the campsite completely changed. The sounds of the day were replaced by the sound of the waves and the wind.
After preparing a simple camping meal, I enjoyed the view with a hot cup of coffee. This is exactly one of the reasons I love camping: stepping away from the pace of daily life and returning to the rhythm of nature, even if only for a few hours.
My Impressions of Şile
Şile is a great destination for short weekend trips thanks to its proximity to Istanbul. Being able to enjoy the sea, forest, and camping experience all in the same area is a major advantage.
However, some places can become quite crowded, especially on weekends. For those looking for a more peaceful camping experience, it may be better to set off early and stay a little farther away from the central areas.
This short trip to Şile reminded me once again that you do not always need to travel hundreds of kilometers to have a great camping experience. Sometimes, beautiful places waiting to be discovered can be found just outside the city.
